Its appeal lies less in the ability to build durable institutions and more in its capacity to offer immediate deterrence and political visibility, in contexts where the perception of strength constitutes a form of domestic political capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\"><strong>China<\/strong> occupies a different and complementary space. Its approach prioritises infrastructure, credit, and economic integration, combined with a doctrine of political non-interference that is particularly appealing to regimes seeking to preserve their decision-making autonomy. Beijing does not replace the role of security guarantor, but contributes to reshaping patterns of economic dependence on less conditional terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\"><strong>Turkey<\/strong>, finally, acts as a hybrid actor, combining military cooperation, the export of weapons systems, religious soft power, and industrial penetration. Its operational flexibility and ability to adapt to politically unstable contexts allow it to position itself as a pragmatic partner, often perceived as less intrusive than traditional Western actors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">This differentiated filling of the power vacuum produces an environment that is <strong>more competitive but less hierarchical<\/strong>, in which Sahelian states do not align with a new dominant centre, but instead practise a form of <strong>selective multipolarism<\/strong>. The loss of French centrality, in this framework, is not the effect of a simple replacement, but the result of a broader restructuring of the alliance landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Systemic effects on the European influence model<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">France\u2019s decline carries implications that extend beyond Paris. The management of security, migratory flows, and energy interdependencies thus becomes increasingly dependent on local dynamics and non-European external actors, reducing the Union\u2019s capacity to anticipate, shape, or contain crises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The loss of the French vector is therefore not a temporary problem, but signals the failure of a European model based on the outsourcing of power. The absence of a structured security framework does not necessarily imply an immediate increase in violence, but rather generates a more opaque environment, in which the predictability of developments declines and escalation thresholds become less legible from the outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">In terms of <strong>mobility and migration<\/strong>, the erosion of informal mechanisms of influence and cooperation limits Europe\u2019s ability to act upstream of crises. The management of flows thus increasingly shifts downstream, along Mediterranean routes, transforming a structural phenomenon into a cyclical emergency that is politically destabilising for member states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">A further critical effect concerns the <strong>loss of Western predictive capacity<\/strong> on the African continent. The Fran\u00e7afrique, despite its limitations and ambiguities, provided Paris\u2014and indirectly Europe\u2014with privileged informational access, consolidated relational networks, and an anticipatory reading of local political dynamics. Its collapse reduces the quality of strategic anticipation, increasing the risk of delayed and poorly calibrated responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Finally, the progressive autonomisation of African actors and the diversification of external partnerships mark the transition from a post-colonial order to a phase of <strong>permanent competitive negotiation<\/strong>, in which Europe is no longer the natural pivot of relations. In this context, the loss of influence translates not only into a reduced capacity for intervention, but into a redefinition of the European role as a reactive rather than a proactive actor within African power dynamics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Core Thesis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The collapse of the Fran\u00e7afrique does not merely mark the end of an informal system of control, but the <strong>definitive crisis of a post-colonial power model<\/strong> that has become incompatible with the new African geopolitical context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">France is not losing influence because other actors are \u201cadvancing,\u201d but because the structural conditions that once sustained its primacy are no longer reproducible.
